Abstract
This study aims to analyze the feasibility of a wood ear mushroom (Auricularia auricula-judae) cultivation business and examine practical experiences through a reflective approach. The study was conducted at the Non-Timber Forest Products and Entrepreneurship Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Makassar in August–December 2025. The problem formulation in this study focuses on the level of financial feasibility of a wood ear mushroom cultivation business and what technical and managerial factors influence the success of its production. [hw1.1] The method used is descriptive analytical with a reflective approach, where researchers are directly involved in all stages of cultivation. Financial feasibility analysis uses Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Net Benefit-Cost Ratio (Net B/C), and Payback Period (PP). The results of the study show a total initial investment of IDR 52,421,000 with depreciation of IDR 4,851,833/year, fixed costs of IDR 66,000,000/year, and variable costs of IDR 14,191,500/year. The cost of goods produced (COGS) is Rp4,500/unit with a selling price of Rp35,000/kg. The financial analysis yields an NPV of Rp3,835,333 (>0), an IRR of 18% (exceeding the 10% discount rate), a Net B/C of 1.78 (>1), and a Payback Period of 10.2 months, all of which meet the investment feasibility criteria. The reflective approach shows that business success is influenced by the quality of production management, humidity control, efficient use of raw materials, and accurate cost recording. With optimal management, the cultivation of cloud ear mushrooms has the potential to become a sustainable agribusiness.
